Dr. Varuna Varma is specialized herself in each & every part of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery both in Adult & Pediatric or Congenital Heart Diseases. She is a Dedicated and skillful Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeon performing a wide range of surgical procedures with strong track record of success in treating advanced conditions. Committed to exceptional patient care that includes careful monitoring during procedures and follow-up. Currently she is working an Associate Professor in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery department at Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.

She has changed the trend in Cardiac Surgery to fast & safe level , as prolonged procedures in Cardiac Surgery increases postoperative complications. We aim at decreasing perioperative complications to the maximal level.

  •    2nd annual Workshop on Foundation day held in March 2014
  •    3rd annual Workshop on Foundation day held in March 2016.

    Administrative Duties:
  •    Day to day work of the Unit, Operation Theatre & Equipment in consultation with Head of the department.
  •    Appointed as a Nodal Officer in the department for swine flu vaccination.

    Research Projects as Principal Investigator during the year under review.
  •    1. Data analysis: Concomitant surgeries in OHS patients.
  •    2. Data acquisition and analysis – reverse remodeling in AS/MS/AS+MS patients under 40 years.

  •    1. Co-investigator in the first Made in India Biological Valve (Merrill), granted Approval April 2018.
  •   2. Co-investigator: development of Patients controlled INR Algorithm in association with Dept. of Fundamental mathematics IIT Kanpur.
